Q & A

What will AXA's buildings and contents insurance cover me for?

You can choose from AXA's contents insurance, buildings insurance or both. AXA's contents insurance provides automatic cover of up to £50,000 and covers you for the main risks you may experience. Buildings Insurance covers you for a reinstatement value of up to £400,000 worth of damage. For full details of what's included in your insurance, speak to one of AXA's operators by calling 0870 242 7194.

Do I have a choice of ways to pay?

Yes. You can make a lump sum payment or set up a direct debit and spread the amount over 12 months - making it easy to budget for.

How do I make a claim?

Once you've checked your policy and schedule carefully to make sure that the loss or damage is covered under your AXA Insurance policy, phone AXA's claims department on 0870 556 1161 as soon as possible to report it. One of their operators will tell you what to do next.

What is the difference between buildings and contents insurance?

Buildings insurance in general covers the building and related fittings and fixtures. Contents are everything which is contained within your building. For example, this would include personal possessions and furnishings. Details of the items covered by AXA's buildings and contents insurance can be found in their policy documents.

How much should I insure my building and contents for?

Buildings - This should take into consideration the cost of completely rebuilding your home - including building costs, architect, surveyor and legal fees and any other associated costs. To find out the value of rebuilding your home, you can find this on the valuation report or survey you had done when you took out your mortgage.

Contents - as a general rule, you should include all your possessions and take into consideration how much it would cost to replace them today.
